Leonardo Bertolino lives and works in Florence, where he was born in February 1966.
He studied the Art Institute of Porta Romana and in 1985 he won the Poster Competition called “European Year of Music”.
One of the milestones in his career was his stay in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 1990. There he met Janet Dryden, painter.
He visited the most important Indian reserves of the state and met George Rivera, sculptor and reserve chief of the Pojoaque Pueblo.
George Rivera and Russel Moore, painter, encouraged Leonardo to show his works in private exhibitions in Espanola, a charming town in northern New Mexico.
In Florence Leonardo met Mario Mariotti, who organized “Al Muro” (“Against the Wall”), a collective exhibition in the Stazione Leopolda.
In 1995 he was invited to exhibit at “Point De Vue” in Montpellier, France.
He worked in some very important studios in Provence. It was there that he met his favourite sculptor, Evert Lindfors.
"Talking Spirits" (Summer 1994)
“This exhibition, “Talking Spirits” is a slow and well-pondered walk among his charmingly beautiful works, among his paintings, his sculptures made of carved, sculpted and passionately colored wood.. (made) more with his soul than with brushes, more with his heart than with his hands. Painter and graphic designer, fine sculptor, eclectic artist, Leonardo is a “Warrior of the human tribe” from which he takes his inspiration since the beginning of his career in order to create his most significant works”.
